Funding for iPad App Projects
If you’re reading this, chances are you either have an iPad or have an idea for a mobile app designed for an iPad. And if that’s the case, you probably love your iPad as much as we do ours, whether it’s for e-mailing, stargazing, watching films on red-eye flights, or plugging away at your favorite game.
For all the wonders packed into this sleek and sexy device, however, we wouldn’t, say, want to write a novel on one, nor a lengthy e-mail, nor, for that matter, a blog. The iPad’s keyboard works fine for short bursts, but for those of us who type for a living, it’s less than ideal.
We didn’t take pen to paper today to complain about the iPad’s keyboard, mind you, but rather to tell you the sort of inspiring tale one seems to hear quite often in the mobile industry. It’s the tale of Steve Isaac, a Seattle software engineer who loved the iPad but hated its keyboard and took it upon himself to develop the TouchFire in order to address the shortcomings he perceived in the iPad’s hardware.
Isaac didn’t quite have the capital to transform his idea into a saleable prototype, however, and so he turned to the Internet to help him get started. Over a fairly short period, Isaac raised over $200,000 through the website Kickstarter, which is specifically designed to connect entrepreneurs and their bright ideas with people who have the means to fund them.
Kickstarter isn’t the only place to go for project funding. In fact, there are ample resources available for the innovative entrepreneur, provided one is willing to spend the time to ferret them out. They’re called “Angel investors.” Their business is to fund good ideas. Sites such as Go4Funding do roughly the same thing as Kickstarter, but many groups of Angel investors rely on local networks, whether in Houston, St. Louis, India, or wherever, all of whom are interested in helping bright ideas see the light of day.
So if you have an idea for a brilliant mobile app but can’t afford the development costs, give one of these a try … and then, naturally, stop by to see us for three free quotes to help get you started.
